For those of you who do not know, John's battalion will be deployed to Afghanistan starting in about one month, December 22. Here's a breakdown of the units in the army:
Platoon=up to 60 people
Brigade=4+ battallions (a lot of people!)
Although John's battalion is deploying, there are two companies that are not on the order at this point: his, and one other.
Today, full bird Colonel Bentley will address ForceCom, a branch of the Army Command at the Pentagon, requesting John's FSC (Forward Support Company), as well as Headquartes Company be deployed as soon as possible to join the rest of their battalion.
If the request is granted, John will be deployed in May or June to joint the rest of his men/women. If there is a +plus+ side to the situation, it is that he will come back with the rest of his battalion in December or January. This would mean he would have a 6-8 month deployment instead of a 12 month, which is the normal rotation right now.
I am asking for my prayer warriors to get on their knees for us and pray. I don't know what to ask for other than John's protection and God's will be done.
How you can pray:
*the families of those whose loved ones will deploy right before Christmas
*continued favor of God on John both physically, and as a leader to his soldiers
*the situation in Afghanistan is getting worse. Pray God protects our troops.
*our leaders as they make decisions that will affect many lives
*John and my relationship remains strong if he does deploy, as well as strength for me
Thanks for taking the time to read this and pray. We know there are so many people praying for us, and I know that it makes all the difference.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD,
“He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
