Miss America Party

Emily, Becky, Kayci, Kloe, me, Melanie

the classic hand-over-mouth cry (and there's me...haha)

he's one lucky king...(I'm one lucky queen!)

talking to mom at the commercials to hear her and dad's top picks...
getting a little carried away...

All of you know, I hold a certain affinity for the Miss America Organization since I was involved in pageants for a few short years.  In 2 years I earned 8,000 to pay of school and 2,000 for a wardrobe and makeup collection for Miss Michigan.  Last night my former roomy at Miss Michigan, who is now Miss America, was passing on her crown.  I competed with the current Miss Michigan and Miss Illinois, so it makes it a lot more fun to watch the pageant and know a few girls on the stage.

I decided to invite some girls over to watch the pageant with me.  I made chili, funfetti cake, and Harry and David dip, and found some plastic tiaras at Wal Mart.  I found ballots on TLC's website with headshots of all the girls and places to vote for your own top 15, 12, 10, 7, and new Miss America.  It also had bonus questions to predict the total number of wardrobe malfunctions, red dresses, and "world peace mentions."  John so graciously stuck around with us girls and of course, got the most predictions right!!!  He was such a good sport (putting other guys to shame:).

I think this is the beginning of an annual tradition.  I already have ideas for next year's party and whether you're a pageant girl or not, you can have fun and thank God it's not you in front of millions with a bikini and high heels!
