John is finishing up a grueling week of physically and mentally draining competitions this week with his battalion. He is on a team of 5 soldiers in his company, and they are one of over 120 competing teams this week. They did 20k ruck marches, pt tests, 4 mile runs, obstacle courses, common task trainings (disassembling and reassembling weapons, etc), and more. I got to go watch the obstacle course challenge and it was awesome! It confirmed that I married a stud. John's team had the lead time of anyone, and I'm pretty sure they won the whole event.
Back to the obstacle course. Here are a few pictures of them dominating the competition! The course was called "Little Nasty." And it was...
Their team name was the "huskies" so I told them to give me their best "mushing" face!
John and Sgt. Z on "The weaver." You must weave over and under all the way up and all the way down. That's only the first challenge...
Then comes the rope. In this shot, John is tapping the wood, successfully making it to the top! Few others made it, but 4 out of the 5 on John's team did. "Mush, Huskies, Mush!"
The strongest men on the team wait for their fellow Huskies to finish the rope and move onto "The Wall." This was so daunting...one of the hardest challenges without help.
I loved this pic, because they are pulling up one of their teammates. That'll preach!
Monkey bars...John's shoulder hurt after this one. I was surprised that this was one of the hardest challenges. Didn't they learn this at recess in elementary? Easier said than done, I guess.
Another rope challenge. Do you think you could keep your balance moving across horizontally?
Flipping the tire, then run to the finish!
