A Pooh Party

Party favor honey with "mommy to bee" labels :)

It's taken me forever to post about our baby shower, but 2 weeks ago we traveled up to Michigan for the special event.  It was mostly family and a few friends, but it was awesome that all my cousins could make it from all over the place.  We got 55 women in my parents' basement, which they finished for my shower.  (They'd been wanting to, but this was a good excuse).  My mom and sisters did an amazing job and went way beyond the call of duty.

Since I'm doing accents of Classic Pooh in my nursery, that was the theme of the whole party.  The food table was set up by character, with a list of favorites by them.  Rabbit's favorites: lettuce, veggies. Eeyore's favs: blue jello and thistles (cookies).  Pooh's fav's: hunny, hunny, and more hunny.  And my mom made her famous homemade carrot cake, yummy!

Everyone wrote messages on newborn diapers for John and I to read the first few weeks after baby is born.  I can't wait to read them as I'm...WE'RE... changing poopy diapers in the middle of the night. :)

I got lots of tips from my cousins, sisters, and aunts on everything "mommy," which was some of my favorite time of the whole weekend.  John and the boys hung out most of the weekend, which was fun for him.

Everyone made the weekend special for us.  My brother drew the invites.  My dad swung a mean paint brush and made sure the basement was ready for us.  My mom and sisters learned everything there was about Pooh, and Jess even sang the Pooh theme song!  Mostly though, everyone came.  I was really blessed to have family drive, and even fly, in for the occasion.  We are blessed with the best family and friends anyone could imagine, and we know this baby will someday feel so lucky to be loved by so many wonderful people.
