John's Change of Command

I have a hard time putting this post into words.  It was a bittersweet day for John to give up a successful 18 month command of Bravo Company on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.  He has worked tirelessly to improve the company's effectiveness and morale and they are now, much due to him, one of the most respected companies in the 188th Brigade.  All the soldiers respect and will miss him, and John has told me multiple times how much he'll miss everyone he worked with, too.

But, new chapters are ahead and we await word on an interview John will take for a second command at Ft. Bragg.  If that doesn't pan out, we have orders for John to begin Captain's Career Course in November at Ft. Lee, Virginia.  This means our 4 year chapter at Ft. Bragg will close and we'll be onto our next journey.  I won't get too sentimental {yet} on how much we'll miss our friends here, because we could stay here another year, but such is army life.  We've been here for four years, right after we got married.  After one apartment, a great teaching job, a dog, our first home, and two kids later...we will always carry a little part of North Carolina with us.

I will say, however, it is SO nice to have my husband back to myself, at least for a little while.  We all missed him, probably Josiah most of all!

We made it!!!

Way to go John! Good luck with these upcoming life decisions--we've been making some here and I know it can be quite stressful. And it's definitely harder when you have little ones to think about...will be thinking about you guys!
