VA is for Lovers

We have a moving date!!!  We are still in limbo, but John set a moving date today for November 5, just 3 1/2 weeks away!  We still have not heard if John will take the position to stay at Ft. Bragg, so we've been taking steps to move, just in case.

I've been going room to room organizing, purging, donating, and selling items on craigslist.  I figure it's good to do, even if we don't end up moving.  I have a less-cluttered house, as well as a few extra bucks in my pocket!  I've been physically preparing for the move, but I have not let myself emotionally let go of our life here just yet.  We got married 4 1/2 years ago, moved to Ft. Bragg, bought a house and had 2 kids here.  It's all we know in the Army, and we'll miss our friends (family away from family) here very much.

Today is the day.  I'm finally allowing myself to look to the future, even though we are not 100% certain we are going to move.  Until now I have not looked at Ft. Lee, VA (our next stop), but here are a few frequently asked questions and resources.  This post is as much for me as our friends and family to learn about where we're headed next on this adventure.

FAQ
Where are you moving?
Ft. Lee, VA, for John to complete a 6 month Captain's Career Course, beginning the end of November.

Where is Ft. Lee?
Here, located in the heart of Virginia.  Nearby cities include Chester, Hopewell, and St. Petersburg.  The closest metropolitan city is Richmond.

Where to after 6 months at Ft. Lee?
We will meet with a career counselor at the end of John's course to see what openings there are domestically and abroad.  We have a few ideas of where we'd like to go, but we are praying for guidance on where to go next.  (We covet your prayers).

Congratulations! How exciting for your family! Some good friends of ours here in Minne are from Richmond and they LOVED it there, seems like a nice southern community. Best of luck to you as you go through this transition!
